We want to remind employers that Governor Kathy Hochul signed the State’s new Worker Injury Reduction Program into law on December 21, 2024.

Effective June 1, 2025, the WWIRP mandates that all covered employers create and implement formal injury reduction programs that identify and minimize risks of musculoskeletal injuries in the workplace.

  • The initial worksite evaluation must be conducted.
    • Written Worksite Evaluations must be conducted initially and “reviewed and updated” at least annually.
  • Employers must provide injury reduction training to all employees who are performing manual materials and handling jobs and tasks.
  • Warehouse medical offices or first aid stations treating musculoskeletal injuries must have qualified medical professionals on staff.
